Do your friends or family for that matter make fun of you because you’re kinda boring? Hopefully they’re not trying to be mean just because and want you to get out and enjoy life. Even if you have a routine, that doesn’t mean you turn down adventure. Life can sometimes be too awesome not to enjoy it. Here are some tips on ways you can spice up a boring life.

Evaluate what you think is boring

Before you rush off to sign up or pay for something, first make sure it’s a good fit for your life. Ask yourself what about what you like or do is boring. Does it truly give you happiness, or is change necessary?

Look for things that interest you

Here comes the fun part.

Spend some time looking for hobbies and other pastimes that interest you. The more you find, the more options you’ll have.

Step outside your comfort zone

You’re not going to go very far in life if you always stay in your comfort zone. At some point, you need to make the decision to branch out and explore the unknown. Who knows, you might just like it.

Take baby steps

No one says you need to swan dive into something completely different. Baby steps will do. Small changes here and there have great potential to add up in a big and rewarding way.

Do something unpredictable

Those who are willing to take the leap should jump. Sometimes it’s good not to over think a situation and just do it. You can always go back to your safe zone.

Hone in on your qualities

Just because you think your life is boring doesn’t mean it really is. Perhaps you pay too much attention to other people and are jealous of how they live. Put the spotlight back on you by focusing on your qualities and what you bring to the table.

Stop settling

There is such a thing as being comfortably miserable. In fact, it’s something most of us allow in our daily lives–through relationships, friendships and work–that can be counterproductive. If you feel something isn’t worthy of your time, stop feeding it.

Let your passion guide you

Close your eyes for a moment and think about all the things that awaken your spirit. Everyone has a passion that puts a smile on their face and pep in their step. It’s your job to discover what it is and pursue it wholeheartedly.

Switch up your surroundings

How does your environment (e.g. home or workplace) look? You might find yourself bored if you’re constantly staring at blank walls and a boring room. Consider sprucing up your personal area for much needed excitement.

Find new friends

Sorry Drake, but in this case, having new friends could be what the doctor ordered. Branch out of your current circle of besties with a willingness to meet new people. The more you expand your network, the more access you’ll have to their likes and hobbies.

Take a trip

When was the last time you packed a bag and went on a vacation? No matter the destination, all of us need to escape our daily hustle and recharge our batteries. Trips are also a good excuse to let loose and have fun. You’re almost forced to try new things as no one wants to enjoy their vacation in their hotel room.

Journal your dreams

This might sound a little silly but really does work. Purchase a journal you can use to jot down your dreams–that is, your wants and desires for your life. Doing so will open your heart and hopefully inspire you to pursue one or two things off your list.

Live in the moment

It doesn’t matter how many activities you take on, if you can’t live in the moment, you aren’t living at all. Focus on the present, today and all it has to offer.

Change your attitude

“Are you crazy? I can’t do that!”

Well no wonder you’re bored, you keep putting yourself in a box of limitations. Change up your attitude so you open yourself to new opportunities and experiences.
