For a few years, it seemed that Monica Brown’s singing career took a backseat to her family life, but we’re happy to report that the mommy and wife is preparing for the release of her eight studio album, Code Red.
In honor of the upcoming release, Brown ditched her signature black tresses for a short, fiery red pixie cut.
“The cut symbolizes me getting back to the fearlessness and courageous part of myself that I shared with the world in the ’90s when I released my first album ‘Miss Thang,’” the 34-year-old told People.
She also explained that the bold new look is a reflection of where she is in her personal life.
“I love that the cover speaks to how I feel as a woman, artist, mother and wife,” Brown shared.
Speaking of how much she’s grown and changed over the years, unlike many stars, the singer says that she has no regrets when it comes to past fashion looks.
“I embrace my cross color stage just as much as I embrace and appreciate my sophisticated moments,” she says. “It’s been a fun journey and it’s awesome to look back at all of my many style changes over 20 years.”
We are so ready for this new album. It’s a been while!
