“You know I have my issues with faith nowadays. I grew up in a religious home, but I’m not religious right now. But I’m trying to get back in touch with the things that were good about the faith that I grew up with.”

Emily Deschanel

The Bones star broke with her Catholic upbringing when she understood their stance on homosexuality:

“a lot of the reason [I’m no longer Catholic] is the stance on being gay in a lot of the churches… I am not a practicing Catholic or any religion right now.”

Tom Hanks

Tom Hanks was born-again in high school. But after being exposed to a number of religions, strayed from organized faith:

“The major religion I was exposed to in the first 10 years of my life was Catholicism. My stepmother became a Mormon. My aunt, whom I lived with for a long time, was a Nazarene, which is kind of ultra-super Methodist, and in high school, all my friends were Jews.”

Shad Moss

Lil’ Bow Wow was a born-again Christian. But Shad Moss isn’t so sure about his faith anymore:

“For some reason the times I gone to church I feel out of place, like its not for me… Church and religion is something that can’t be forced onto someone.

My philosophy is this: I don’t want to practice the word and still be doing the wrong… I don’t want to feel like I’m misusing the church or the lord for the sake of my bad ways.”

Chris Rock

The famous comedian says his blackness caused him to break with the Christian faith. Or rather, as he famously put it, “a black Christian is like a black person with no memory.”
