Columbus Short Hints At “Empire” Role
It’s unlikely that Columbus Short will be returning to “Scandal” anytime soon, but it looks like the troubled star may be making a primetime television comeback sooner than later. In a recent interview with E! Online, the father of two hinted that he may be appearing in season two of hit TV show, “Empire.”
“Big things are happening,” he told the entertainment site. “I’m going to be bridging my music career with my acting career.”
When asked if this means fans can look forward to seeing him join the cast of “Empire,” Short had this to say:
“I’m just saying it wouldn’t be a shock.”
Since he was let go by “Scandal” creator Shonda Rhimes following several run-ins with the law, the actor left Hollywood for Atlanta, where he cleaned himself up and began making arrangements concerning his music career.
“I’m not only back but it’s about to be a problem for Hollywood because we’re going to go big,” he said. “I’m excited, but I’m also humbled and grateful.”
As for “Scandal,” Short admits that he does miss being a gladiator and that he would “1,000 percent” rejoin the cast should the opportunity ever present itself.
“I won’t lie,” he says. “I do miss it. I miss it a lot.”
However, that doesn’t mean that he tunes in on Thursday nights. In fact, the 32-year-old says he does the exact opposite.
“I completely avoid it,” he shared. “I support it, but it’s like being an injured football player on the sidelines.”
