Furious 7 is at the top of the domestic box office this weekend.

The action-packed movie pulled in $143.6 million in its opening weekend. Internationally, the film brought in $249.4 million.

The release of Furious 7 is bittersweet for the franchise. In 2013, one of the stars of the movie, Paul Walker, died in a car crash at 40. The film was completed using digital technology and some help from his brothers.

“This is a bittersweet installment in the franchise,” said Phil Contrino, vice president and chief analyst at “[Walker’s] passing made this movie more intriguing for people who hadn’t seen some of the installments. It raised awareness and its success is a tribute to him.”

It looks as though, Furious 7 has set the tone for summer blockbuster movies and shattered a few records.

Congrats to the cast and crew of Furious 7.
