When we found out these celebrities’ favorite movies we were beyond surprised. Would you have guessed that these were the favorite flicks of your favorite stars?

What’s yours?

Barack Obama

What is President Obama’s favorite movie? As it turns out, it’s not movies about slavery or Ride Along as one snarky Sony exec tried to say. The POTUS’ favorite movies are actually The Godfather and The Godfather: Part II. Obama told Katie Couric,”Oh, I think it would have to be The Godfather. One and Two. Three not so much. That saga – I love that movie.”

Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp’s favorite movie? The Wizard of Oz. Depp once said, “I wanted to have a tornado sweep me up and take me away from the life I was living as a teenager.”

Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez revealed that West Side Story was her favorite movie during a West Side Story-themed photo shoot with Vanity Fair in 2009. And you’ll never believe how many times she’s watched it: 37.

Rihanna

We never would have guessed Rihanna’s favorite movies: Napoleon Dynamite and Borat. Funny stuff!

Beyoncé

Bey’s favorite movie? A Star is Born starring Judy Garland. Do you think it helped convince her that she was destined for greatness?

Jay Z

What movie does Mr. Carter love the most? He just can’t decide. It’s a tie between Godfather: Part II and True Romance.

Vin Diesel

The movie this action star loves more than any other? Gone With the Wind. The character Rhett Butler is one Diesel says he identifies with most: “Here’s this guy saying, ‘I may be rough around the edges, but I’m the better man for you, and you’re still locked over there with pretty boy.'”

We bet there are many women willing to be Scarlett O’Hara to Diesel’s Butler any day.

Julianne Moore

Julianne Moore has said that Rosemary’s Baby is her favorite film. “This is the first movie that came to mind when I thought of what I wanted to watch. Wow, I love the beginning of this movie.”

Morgan Freeman

Morgan Freeman says he loves just about everything he’s been in. But you’ll never guess his favorite movie that he’s not featured in:

“My favorite movie that I didn’t work on? I think one of the best movies ever made was Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge! I just think that movie is fabulous. It was just an extraordinarily well done film. Editing, directing, costuming — just everything about it was perfect.”

Freeman says he also loves King Kong, High Noon, The Outlaw Josey Wales and Moby Dick.

Reese Witherspoon

The paparazzi stopped Reese Witherspoon on the 84th Annual Academy Awards red carpet to ask her what her favorite film is: Overboard!

Kerry Washington

What was Washington’s favorite movie growing up? Splash!

Oprah

For years, Oprah’s favorite movie was The Color Purple. That is until President Obama told her to watch Beasts of the Southern Wild. Oprah has since said that she loves that movie above all others:

“All I can tell you is that I’ve never seen anything like it…It is magical realism brought to the screen. It is truly a work of art.”

Aisha Tyler

Tyler doesn’t just have a favorite movie, she has a favorite franchise. According to The Talk co-host, it’s “the Bourne series. I own them all on DVD.”

Marlon Wayans

When Queen Latifah learned that Marlon Wayans’ favorite movie was The Bridges of Madison County, she had to bring it up on her show. According to Wayans:

“That’s my sensitive side. I just love the movie. I just think it’s a beautiful story about love v. lust and what is love and I just think it’s beautiful that the kids find a box filled with all their mama’s dirt in it and they open the box and that box heals their lives of all their dirt.

So when my kids find my box, it’s going to heal them.”

Then Queen Latifah said, “That’s going to be a big box.”
