Earlier this week, we told you that Phylicia Rashad would be returning to network television for Ava DuVernay’s new pilot, “For Justice.” Well, the good news just continues to pour in. According to Deadline, Dreamgirls actress Anika Noni Rose will be headlining the civil rights pilot.
Rose has been cast to play Special Agent Natalia “Nat” Chappel. She’s described as “a cool, laser-focused, tough as nails FBI agent who works in the Criminal Section of the Department of Civil Rights Division and finds herself caught between the radical family she was born into and the professional family she has chosen.”
She will be playing the co-worker of Rashad’s character, Georgia Howe, “a savvy Washington player who has faced discrimination for her race and sexual orientation, and fights to protect the independence and integrity of her high-profile Civil Rights Division.”
As previously reported, the series will be based on James Patterson’s novel The Thomas Berryman Number. Rene Belcer, the writer and producer of “Law & Order,” will write the pilot in addition to serving as the show’s executive producer.
We’re totally here for this.
