Adrienne Bailon Talks Joining The Second Wives Club

March 4, 2015  |

Last month, we learned that Adrienne Bailon and her longtime boyfriend got engaged. While planning for marriage is definitely something to celebrate, the actress admits that the fact that her fiancé, Lenny, has been married before made both dating and wedding planning a bit awkward.

“Initially, it was not my ideal. You don’t seek out, most of the time, somebody that has already been married. Especially because I haven’t,” Bailon said during a recent episode of “The Real.”

While Loni, who has been married before, doesn’t see anything wrong with seeing a divorced man, Tamera Mowry expressed that she feels it’s important to know what caused the divorce.

“I think it’s important to know to know why they aren’t married anymore. Find out their motive. Maybe [he] was the jerk.”

Tamar, on the other hand, felt that what happened way back when is none of your business.

“That was that relationship though and let me tell you why you shouldn’t be asking that,” Tamar chimed in. “That relationship has nothing to do with your relationship.”

Bringing the topic back to her own personal situation, Adrienne confessed that she was initially obsessed with Lenny’s past.

“What it is that we feel is that I’m about to have this really special moment for my first time and you’ve already done it,” said the bride-to-be. “I’m not going to lie, for the beginning of my relationship I felt that way.”

She went on to say after talking things over with her co-hosts, she decided to embrace what she has with Lenny instead of worrying about his past situation.

“There is something that a man can learn from having had a failed marriage and that hopefully in this one, they could’ve learned something and do better in the next,” she reasoned.

What are your thoughts on dating/marrying a divorcee?
