The highly anticipated world premiere of Lifetime’s Whitney biopic has come and gone, but it looks like there’s a chance we’ll be seeing more of Bobby Brown’s life unfold on the small (or possibly even big) screen. Independent director Bobby Huntley recently announced plans for a New Edition biopic titled, NE Heartbreak: The New Edition Story.
According to the film’s website, the NE Heartbreak Movement is a “labor of love” put together by a “creative team of New Edition fans to produce an authentic biopic that will tell a sincere and honest narrative, of the lives and journey of New Edition.”
A sizzle reel for the film has already been put together and is currently being circulated around social media to raise awareness regarding the project.
“I put together this trailer/sizzle reel because I’ve always wanted to bring the New Edition story to life,” Huntley said in the trailer. “Hopefully you guys like it. Hopefully the NE camp will like it and consider me and my team to help bring this story out to the world.”
According to Shadow & Act, Huntley’s production team spent nearly six weeks auditioning for the cast. An additional six weeks were spent rehearsing for filming of the trailer. It’s currently unclear what Huntley’s next steps are besides raising awareness, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted as this story develops.
