Raven Symone Is Coming To “black-ish” As Dre’s Gay Sister

February 26, 2015  |

Raven Symone is out here collecting all the checks. In addition to her new role on Fox’s “Empire,” the former child star is also heading to ABC to star on the critically acclaimed “black-ish.”

According to Entertainment Weekly, Symone will play Dre’s (Anthony Anderson) sister Rhonda. And she just so happens to be gay. Speaking about his sister’s sexuality makes Dre uncomfortable so the two, despite their jovial relationship, avoid it.

Though there is one large elephant in the room, the two siblings have a playful competition where they vy for a place at the top of their mother’s (Jenifer Lewis) rankings every year. And not just figuratively. Their mother releases official results every December.

The episode, “Please Don’t Ask, Please Don’t Tell,” will follow Rhonda and Dre as they navigate their communication issues.

It is set to air later this season.
