For all you newly engaged techies, Best Buy has made your dreams come true! The largest consumer electronics company just announced its first wedding registry program. Couples who are interested in the latest electronics can now have their friends and family purchase them gifts besides the typical china or matching towel set. Next week, the Best Buy Wedding Registry will launch on the mobile app for the couples who don’t have time to go to the store.
For those that do, kiosks will be installed in each of the company’s 1,000 plus stores by April and couples can create their registry by scanning the items they want. Best Buy will also allow clients to sync their registry with MyRegistry.com and TheKnot.com. The new idea was initiated to help increase sales and market to the millennial generation who are moving into the next stage of their lives. Wendy Fritz who serves as the head of Best Buy’s head of gift strategy told the Associated Press, “Electronics and small appliances are as important to today’s newlyweds as silverware and towels.”
This is a smart move for Best Buy! What latest gadget would you place on your registry?
