Drake pulled a Beyoncé and dropped a surprise album, If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late. And like Beyoncé, Drake has seen immediate success with the marketing move. According to industry sources, the album, which dropped Feb. 13, was likely sell more than 500,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Feb. 15.

The project was released to digital retailers through Young Money/Cash Money/Republic Records and is expected to debut at No. 1 next week’s Billboard 200 chart. This would give the rapper his fourth No. 1, reports Billboard.

Since Drake dropped this album without any warning, there is major mystery surrounding the CD, considering all the drama currently going on over at Cash Money and intense legal battle between Lil Wayne and Birdman.

“The somewhat sparse nature of the record has led to speculation that it was released as a contractual obligation, because he wants to get off of Cash Money Record,” reports Forbes.

While Lil Wayne has a four-album contact with Cash Money, it is not sure how many Drake must do for the label. This surprise album marks his fourth. Maybe it is his last?
