Leah Still was “shaking it off” as she strutted to the Taylor Swift hit down the Levi’s Kids’ Runway last Thursday during New York Fashion Week. The 4-year-old daughter of Cincinnati Bengals’ player Devon Stills, was still serving up plenty of style despite the battle she has endured with pediatric neuroblastoma since last June.
Of course her Daddy was there to document it all as his baby girl modeled not just fashion but a whole lot of spirit and inspiration. Leah’s appearance came only after she finished an eight-day stay in the hospital for a round of cancer treatments.
Leah was featured just last year in the TODAY Show “Shine A Light” series courtesy of anchor Hoda Kotb in which Cyndi Lauper and Sara Bareilles did a mash up of the songs “True Colors” and “Brave” in a new single called, “Truly Brave”. All proceeds from the song went to the American Cancer Society.
In an appearance on the TODAY show past Friday, Devon Stills shared Leah’s progress with host Matt Lauer:
“She’s doing good.”
“She just finished up her first round of her new treatment this past Saturday. She’s going to start back up again this Friday. It went pretty well, so hopefully this takes out a lot of the disease that’s left in her body.”
Kotb accompanied Devon and Leah at the fashion show tweeting:
“Soooo crazy about Leah still #LeahStrong !!!! @Dev_Still71 ‘s little girl was a STAR at #NYFW15 xoxo”
Leah has no plans on stopping spreading hope to other young children battling serious illnesses. She is partnering with her father to write a book called, “I am Leah Strong” to inspire other kids in the same situation. The Bengals also announced last year that 100% of Still’s jersey sales would go to fighting pediatric cancer.
Devon Still expresses how grateful they are for the public’s support:
“There’s a lot of good people still out there.”
“You look at the news, you read the newspaper, and you see a lot of negative things that go on in this world, and the way that people have stepped up to not only to help my daughter but support the cause of fighting pediatric cancer, it really gave me faith in humanity.”
