Six months ago, Adrienne Bailon confessed that if her longtime boyfriend, Lenny Santiago, were to propose, she would marry him on that very day without even thinking twice about it. So it was a dream come true when the Senior Vice President of Artist Management at Roc Nation popped the question.
“I was shocked, but at the same time, it was so great being able to share it with my girls,” the former Cheetah Girl told US Weekly. “As much as I can keep a secret, I don’t like to keep secrets. I think when you work with somebody as closely as we work they might as well consider themselves my wedding planners!”
As for the best advice she has received about transitioning from girlfriend to fiancée, Adrienne had this to say:
“Honestly, I think the best thing and the most important thing is don’t let anything change. I will always be his girlfriend—even when I’m his wife 20 years from now, I will always be his girlfriend,” she told Hip Hollywood at the Roc Nation pre-Grammy brunch. “That’s the best advice I’ve heard, so I’m going to stick with that.”
Adrienne’s co-star Lonie Love, who prides herself in being a “satisfied single,” was also extremely happy for the bride-to-be.
“When she announced it on the show, we were so happy for her because I’ve always been on her like, ‘When you gon’ get married? Y’all been going out 5,6 years.’ And so, she’s finally ready to take the plunge and we couldn’t be happier for her.”
Although folks were trying to put the rush on the actress, she and Lenny took things pretty slow, which she admits helped them in the long run.
“We were friends before [dating], and we were friends for a really long time,” she revealed. “I think the fact that he met me when I was recording a solo album for DefJam, and I was not interested in dating him at all so he got to know real me and I never had to put on any act for him all. He already knew me stripped down — he would see me every say in the studio with a bun in my hair and no make up.”
Congrats again to this beauty and her hubby-to-be!
