Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade may have their share of internal issues, just like most couples, but they’re clearly not here for disrespect from any outside folks. Earlier this week, we told you that Wade was fined $15,000 for flipping the bird at a crowd of heckling fans who said nasty things about his wife. Union isn’t letting anyone disrespect her hubby either. Last night on TNT’s “Inside the NBA” post-game show, Charles Barkley said that he didn’t believe Wade should’ve made the All-Star team this year.
“Dwyane’s great, [he’s] a Hall of Famer, but he didn’t deserve to make the All-Star team,” said Barkley. “Dwyane Wade is not having an all-star year.”
Barkley’s co-host Kenny Smith openly disagreed—and so did Wade’s wife.
“Forgive Charles. .. Kenny Smith is a 2x champion & his opinion is most sound,” she said. “It’s like me talkin bout Meryl Streep but I ain’t won nuthin,” Union tweeted.
However, Barkley, never being one to back down, clapped back once he heard about the “Being Mary Jane” actress’ tweet.
“Well listen, first of all never mention you and Meryl Streep in the same sentence again. Meryl Streep would never be on ‘Snakes On A Plane’ or ‘Madea.’”
Once Smith corrected him by telling him that Union was never on “Snakes on a Plane” and expressing that she’s actually a good actress, Barkley had this to say:
“Well she could have been. I’ve seen her act, she could have been on ‘Snakes On A Plane’ or ‘Madea’. She’s taking shots at me. She’s pretty, she’s very pretty. I’m not one of them people who’s going to turn the other cheek. You say something bad about me, I’m going to say something about you.”
“I like that lady,” he continued. “She’s a very nice lady and I like Dwyane, but we get paid to be honest.”
The Wade’s don’t play that.
