Alexandra Shipp Cast In X-Men Prequel
Alexandra Shipp is making major moves these days and clearly, she hasn’t allowed the flop known as Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B to slow her stride. In addition to her forthcoming role as Ice Cube’s wife, Kim Woodruff, in N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton, the 23-year-old has also snagged a role in X-Men prequel, X-Men: Apocalypse.
Shipp will play a young Ororo Munroe aka Storm—a role that has been previously played by Halle Berry in other X-Men movies. Sophie Turner and Tye Sheridan have also been cast in the film. Turner will be playing the young Jean Grey while Sheridan will be playing Cyclops. The casting news was announced on Twitter yesterday by director Bryan Singer.
Briefly after Singer made his announcement, Shipp shared a photo of herself smiling while looking at her phone.
Details regarding the plot and premise of the sequel have not been disclosed; however, according to Variety, it’s scheduled to hit theaters May 27, 2016.
Way to go, Alexandra!
