Reset For 2015: Your New Year Must-Haves

December 30, 2014  |

As we approach a brand new year, my plan is to make 2015 the best year ever with passion, persistence, favor, and balance. You?

A mere two days before another year, and the great news is there is still time to create the ultimate vision. Continue to plan strategically: make that money call to a potential client or employer; talk up your brand like a rock star; be your authentic self;   know that you are talented; and, most importantly, find the time to do you.

Here are my favorite people and products/brands to help capture the best in mind, body, heart, soul (and hair) for #brandyou. Get ready to #Reset.

Mind/Inspiration
As you know, books can transform your mind and set your ideas on the fast track. One of my favorites to capture the entrepreneurial spirit, provide spiritual balance and transform one’s mindset as it relates to debt, disaster, divorce, deceit, disease, and depression is Facing Your Giants by Max Lucado. And if your mission is to learn a little something about the new economy, leverage social media, and learn how to monetize your blog, then purchase Crush It by Gary Vaynerchuk.

Get ready to be your best and get out of your way with Act Like A Success, Think Like A Success, Steve Harvey’s New York Times bestseller, an easy read with transformational results.

You Want Caviar But Have Money For Chiltins: A Smart PR Guide For Those On A Shoestring Budget is the ultimate quick read to get you thinking on how to leverage your personal brand and increase your net worth through strategic do-it-yourself public relations.

Body
Don’t believe the hype! There are no potions and magic pills to reverse the aging process. However, you can get the blood pressure, cholesterol, joints, muscles, mind and stress all in check with a four-letter word – yoga. Bikram yoga is the most intense and worth a try to achieve serenity.

There’s no need to find your passport when you can eat, love, pray and spa in your own backyard with Juvenex, New York.  Not in NYC? Then do a search on SpaFinder and make an appointment someplace close to home. Oftentimes, you can even find a discount code or coupon to bring down the price of a bit of luxury.

Face
Put your best face forward with the basics for less than $5. If you are looking to clear up your skin and exude confidence, sample the best African Black Soap on the market by Shea Moisture for under $4.

The ultimate quickie at-home facial is brought to you by the best-kept secret in the world — The Face Shop. An intimate shop on the strip of any Korean district, get your skin and face to a state of pure bliss and beauty. The products are natural (chia seed, blueberry, shea, rice), for $3.00 per mask. Actually for about $100 you can have a traditional Korean body scrub, massage, facial, get your hair washed and conditioned, and enjoy a sauna, steam room, and green tea as a package.

Hair
Whether your mane is textured, weaved, locked, or natural, a service/product is always needed to get one’s hair healthy. After a few mishaps, I have stumbled upon the potion and pros that will save and enhance your hair.

Duafe Holistic Hair Care is a celebrity haven (Jill Scott, Ava Duvernay, Janet Jackson) in Philadelphia that provides premium hair-care services and Shea butter-enriched homemade products.

Indigofera.com offers premium plant-based products and solutions for your hair and skin while offering an interactive hair blog for your burning questions.

Soul
Music can heal thy soul and transform thy inner being. My favorite album at the moment is Mary J. Blige’s “The London Sessions.” MJB’s latest offering will help you groove, heal, get reflective and make changes. Yes.

Inspiration
You. Look in the mirror and do what I have learned to do. Love me, talk to me and believe in me.

RESET: Get ready for the best year ever. If you’ve done the work, it’s time to claim your victory and know that you are worth it – mind, body and soul. Happy 2015!
