Coming Attractions: 2015 Movies We Can’t Wait For
The days of 2014 are dwindling down and with 2015 just around the corner, we felt it was time to take a look at some of the most interesting, intriguing and highly-anticipated movies that will be coming to a theater near you in the new year. Check out our full list after the jump.
Bittersweet barely describes the emotions we’re feeling about “Furious 7.” While we’re eagerly anticipating the latest installment of this surprisingly successful and consistent franchise, it will also break our hearts to see Paul Walker in one of his final roles.
The Boy Next Door
What do you get when you cast Jennifer Lopez as a sexy, Mrs. Robinson-type to Ryan Guzman’s 20-something actor playing a hot teenager? You get what looks like an incredible thriller that is part “Fatal Attraction” and part super sexy, so-wrong-but-it-feels-so-right film. Will it blast open the box office? Probably not, but we’re confident it’ll still be tons of entertainment. And who could really argue against seeing these two hotties engaging in some inappropriate student-teacher relations.
Fifty Shades of Grey
Slated for an early February release, “Fifty Shades of Grey” might be one of the most hotly-anticipated movies of 2015. While the film has been plagued with rumors of a lack in chemistry between Dakota Johnson and James Dornan and an overall diluting of the book’s sultry content, that hasn’t stopped us from eagerly awaiting its release.
Who doesn’t like a sizable helping of British hottie Daniel Craig? We sure do, so the thought of a new James Bond flick is enough to send us into a tizzy. And as if that wasn’t enough, we’re definitely feeling Monica Bellucci being tapped as this film’s Bond stunner at the ripe ol’ age of 50. Get ’em, gorgeous and show those twenty-somethings who’s boss.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2
Its been years in the making, but fans will finally be able to see the dramatic conclusion of “The Hunger Games” saga with “Mockingjay Part 2.” Seeing as each of its previous installments brought something new and refreshing to the table, we have to imagine that this finale will be full of action and will allow Jennifer Lawrence to once again shine as the always tough and empowering Katniss Everdeen.
The Wedding Ringer
Starring Kevin Hart and Josh Gad, “The Wedding Ringer” centers on a socially-awkward man who enlists to help of Jimmy Callahan (Hart) as a hired best man for his upcoming wedding. Not surprisingly, hijinks ensue. While buddy comedies run the risk of lacking originality, we have the utmost confidence in Hart to elevate this genre.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron
Talk about a movie that you and the boo can enjoy together. While Marvel’s “The Avengers” definitely feels like a dude’s flick of choice, trust us when we say there’s enough for the ladies to make this worthwhile. From Chris Evans rock hard bod to Robert Downey Jr.’s charismatic confidence, the sequel to the highest grossing film of 2012 is sure to be a hit.
Slated for a late February release, “Focus” looks as sleek and sexy as its incredible stars. Featuring Will Smith and “Wolf of Wall Street” hottie Margot Robbie (more on her later), “Focus” centers on a seasoned con man who falls in love with a young woman who ultimately becomes involved in a dangerous con of her own. The film went through many potential stars before landing on Smith and Robbie (Brad Pitt, Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling, etc.), but we’re confident these two will nail it.
Z for Zachariah
Picture it: Being ostensibly the last person on earth in a post-apocalyptic world only to find that you’ve got two hot men to keep you company. That’s exactly what we’re working with in “Z for Zachariah” starring Margot Robbie, Chris Pine and Chiwetel Ejiofor. And to add to the awesome, the three are involved in quite the love triangle. Can we buy our tickets now?
Disney takes another stab at a classic fairytale with 2015’s “Cinderella.” Cate Blanchett seems the perfect choice as the Wicked Stepmother and “Downton Abbey’s” Lily James definitely fills the title role wonderfully. If you’re in the mood for a feel-good, throwback to your childhood, then “Cinderella” is the perfect fit.
The Hateful Eight
The latest work by director Quentin Tarantino, “The Hateful Eight” stars Samuel L. Jackson, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Kurt Russell. Part western, part thriller, “The Hateful Eight” is sure to be as laden with gore and graphics as many of Tarantino’s previous works, but we’re still willing to give it a go.
James Franco and Jonah Hill reunite in the absolutely chilling “True Story.” While we’re used to seeing these two laugh it up in comedies like “This Is The End,” “True Story” marks a radical departure, as Hill plays a fired reporter who finds himself wrapped up in dangerous relationship with an accused killer (Franco).
We wavered about whether or not to include “The Loft,” a sexually-charged thriller about a group of men whose secret mistress meeting place is sullied when the body of a murdered woman is discovered. Starring James Marsden, Karl Urban and Wentworth Miller, “The Loft” definitely could end up being a trashy and banal thriller. But there’s something rather inventive about the premise and of grown men freaking out when their dirty little secret is discovered that has us interested.
