Sony Cancels Kevin Hart’s ‘Wedding Ringer’ Press Junket After Email Leaks
Last week, several Sony Pictures executives were put on blast after an email exchange of them saying some not-so-nice things about Kevin Hart were leaked to the web. In the emails, Clint Culpepper refers to the comedian as a “whore” for requesting more money to promote one of his films on his social media accounts. The movie studio has since decided to cancel a press junket for the actor’s forthcoming film, The Wedding Ringer, which will be released in theaters January 16.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the junket was supposed to take place on Sunday in Los Angeles, but reporters were recently informed that it would be postponed. A Daily News journalist , who was invited to attend the junket, was informed that the event was pulled in an attempt to keep the “focus on the movie” instead of the recent email hacks.
As previously reported, Kevin responded to the email leak (and Culpepper’s harsh words) with an Instagram message.
“Knowing your self-worth is extremely important people. I worked very hard to get where I am today. I look at myself as a brand and because of that I will never allow myself to be taken advantage of.
I OWN MY BRAND…I MAKE SMART DECISIONS FOR MY BRAND….I PROTECT MY BRAND….which is why I’m able to brush ignorance off of my shoulder and continue to move forward.
I refuse to be broken people…with that being said it’s now time for me to get back to building this empire that I’ve always dreamed of!!!!”
