Family Of John Crawford Join Protest In Washington
The parents of a 22-year-old Ohio man fatally shot by an officer while carrying an air rifle in a Wal-Mart plan to join a weekend march in the nation’s capital to protest police violence.
Twenty-two-year-old John Crawford III was shot at the Beavercreek store Aug. 5 after a 911 caller reported someone waving a rifle. A grand jury decided the officer’s actions were justified.
The U.S. Department of Justice is investigating the racially charged case. Crawford was black, and the responding officers are white.
