I Do! Celebs Who Got Married At Home
While some celebs rent out huge venues or have destination weddings, we found out there are a lot of celebs who got married at home.
Mary J. Blige
Mary J. Blige became known for singing and whining about how a man had done her wrong but she had finally found the real love that she was looking for in Kendu Isaacs. After dating for several years, the “Not Gon Cry” singer tied the knot to Isaacs inside of her New Jersey home. Recently, Blige’s comments about not allowing her husband to have any female friends garnered a lot of attention but during an appearance on Wendy Williams she said her comments were blown out of proportion.
Beyonce And Jay Z
Despite being one of the biggest and most recognizable couples on the planet, Jay Z and Beyonce managed to keep their special day out of the media. The couple tied the knot in 2008 at the rapper’s TriBeCa apartment behind closed doors. The Brooklyn hip-hop mogul wanted it to be a very private affair with just family and close friends in attendance. Former Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams were on hand along with the couple’s good friend Gwyneth Paltrow.
Evan Ross And Ashlee Simpson
Yes, technically Evan Ross and his blushing bride Ashlee Simpson tied the knot at a home. But when you’re mother is one of the original divas you don’t get married at just any home. Ross and Simpson said, “I do in a lavish ceremony held at her mother’s Connecticut estate. They had been dating for just six months when the “ATL” star popped the big question. Mom Diana Ross also sang at their wedding.
Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt acted like a married couple in every way except for saying, “I do.” Together for years, the couple saw their family grow from Jolie’s adopted son Maddox to six children in total. And this past summer all six witnessed firsthand as Mommy and Daddy finally tied the knot. They got married in the privacy of their own chapel that is a part of their Chateau Miraval estate in Provence, France.
Jennifer Lopez And Marc Anthony
When Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony got together, it seemed like a match made in heaven. The Latin couple surprised everybody when they got married in 2004. The ceremony and reception were held at Lopez’s Beverly Hills mansion and guests were told that they were attending an awards party. Four years later their family grew by two after the “American Idol” judge gave birth to a set of twins. But sadly the couple shocked their fans once again when they announced that they were going their separate ways in 2011.
Ellen DeGeneres And Portia de Rossi
Ellen DeGeneres has amassed quite a fortune and it has allowed her to be able to indulge in one of her passions: real estate and decorating. And her hobbies came in handy when it was time for her to tie the knot. The funny lady had been in a relationship with Portia de Rossi since 2004 and after the same-sex marriage ban was overturned in California four years later, DeGeneres wanted to make an honest woman out of the actress. They got married at their California home with 19 guests in attendance.
Mariah Carey And Nick Cannon
After just several weeks of dating, Nick Cannon got down on one knee and asked Mariah Carey to be his wife. He popped the question at her Manhattan penthouse. And when the couple decided they couldn’t wait any longer to be husband and wife, they flew down to the diva’s palatial estate in the Bahamas to get married. The couple renewed their vows on their anniversary every year until they decided to pull the plug on their marriage earlier this year.
Drew Barrymore was a child star before she could barely talk and she was forced to grow up fast in Hollywood. By the time Barymore was a teenager, she already had a few rehab stints under her belt. But after living such as fast life, the “Charlie’s Angels” star has chosen a remarkably quiet personal live. When she tied the knot to art dealer Will Kopelman in 2012, they chose the garden of their Montecito, CA home as the perfect venue.
According to the old saying, first comes love then marriage followed by a baby in a baby carriage. But for actor Matthew McConaughey and his wife Camila Alves, it was the other way around. They didn’t decide to get married until after she gave birth to their three children. When it was time for the “Dallas Buyers Club” star to make an honest woman out of his three-time baby mama, they got married at their Austin, TX estate in 2012.
When Julia Roberts and her man Danny Moder invited guests to their Taos, New Mexico ranch in 2002, they thought they would be celebrating the fourth of July with fireworks. But it turns out the “Pretty Woman” star would be tying the knot to her cameraman boyfriend. The couple met on the set of “The Mexican” while she was still dating fellow actor Benjamin Bratt. But Roberts couldn’t deny the sparks and two years later they got married.
When Reese Witherspoon first got married she chose the Olde Wide Awake Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina as the venue. But after seven years of marriage, she and Ryan Phillippe ended up divorcing. When it was time to pick a spot to marry agent Jim Toth, the “Sweet Home Alabama” star picked a spot closer to her heart: her own home. They got married at her ranch in Ojai, CA. She has since sold that home.
Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom
Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom dated for one whole month before they became Mr. and Mrs. Odom. When it was time for them to say, “I do,” they chose to exchange vows at the home of music executive Irving Azoff. The wedding was anything but low-key. Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant, Chelsea Handler, Lara Spencer, Brittny Gastineau and Lala Vazquez all attended the wedding. Cameras were on hand to film the entire event for the family reality show, “Keeping Up With The Kardashians.”
