It’s terrible to think that in this day and age, a woman’s life may be in jeopardy if she decline’s a man’s romantic advances towards her.
According to DNA Info, a Bridgeport woman had a rather traumatic experience while riding the L train after she refused to give a man, who was later identified as Denzel Rosson, her phone number. After declining his advances, the victim moved to another train car, but was allegedly followed by Rosson.
Assistant State’s Attorney Lorraine Scaduto explained that the woman eventually decided to exit the train to flee Rosson, but he continued to pursue her. She then attempted to call 911, which is when the suspect launched his attack. He allegedly put the victim in a headlock, punched her in the face and tried to steal her phone and purse before fleeing on foot.
A witness who was stopped at a traffic light witnessed the attack unfold. He and several other bystanders decided to follow Rosson, who ducked off into a nearby restaurant. Officers arrived on the scene and apprehended the suspect from the restaurant a few minutes later.
He was charged with battery and attempted robbery. Bail was set at $200,000.
