How To Make A Network No. 1: ABC On Top Thanks To Shonda Rhimes

November 25, 2014  |

To say Shonda Rhimes is one of Hollywood’s biggest shots would be an understatement. She’s nearly running things in TV land. She has a major network depending on her. ABC wouldn’t be raking in ratings and beaucoup advertising dollars without Rhimes’ hit shows.

“The network’s #TGIT-branded Thursday night lineup featuring Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get the Way with Murder broke a record in ratings during November sweeps,” reports Jezebel.

When the three series aired their winter finales last week–answering the burning question to who killed Sam–the trio had great ratings.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Grey captured 8.3 million viewers and a 2.4 adults 18-49 rating; Scandal pulled in with 10 million and a 3.1 rating; and 9.8 million people tuned into HTGAWM and had a 3.1 rating. HTGAWM saw an increase of seven percent from the previous week.

ABC has won all four Thursdays in the adult demo during the November “sweeps” period, thanks in major part to Rhimes. The network hasn’t achieved that feat in at least 23 years.
