Protester Tosses “Blood” On NYPD Commissioner Bratton

November 25, 2014  |

Last night, over 1,000 protesters gathered in New York City to express their outrage over the Michael Brown verdict. During the protest, NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton was sprayed with fake blood, NBC News reports. The faux blood, which is believed to have been red paint, also hit eight other officers and police officials who stood with Bratton.

According to the New York Daily News, a suspect was apprehended for hurling the “blood.” He has been identified as activist and Occupy Wall Street protester Diego Ibañez. He is expected to appear in court Tuesday. He faces assault on a police officer, obstruction of government administration, disorderly conduct, harassment and criminal mischief charges. Ibañez, who is a native of Bolivia, has fought for the rights of immigrants in Alabama, Utah and Arizona.

Bratton addressed the incident during a press conference today and referred to Ibañez as a “professional agitator.” Below is footage is footage Ibañez being taken into custody.
