Donnie is what I like to call a message-music artist. He’s something like a Marvin Gaye in his “What’s Going On” days. To look at him you might think This openly gay, something like a neo-soul artist’s music will have you feeling frustrated with the man in one song and uplifted on the next track. His gospel background (his father and brothers are preachers) is evident in his soulful, heartfelt delivery on every song I’ve ever heard from him. One of my favorite’s of Donnie’s is his song “Cloud 9” which he explains the power and beauty of black hair.
