Florida Woman Kills Boyfriend To Be Freed From A Curse She Believed He Placed On her
A Florida woman is behind bars for fatally stabbing her on-again, off-again boyfriend.
According to the New York Daily News, Amanda Lopez, 26, confessed to murdering her estranged lover, Larry Lee Fryar, 57, because she was convinced that he had placed some type of curse on her. The kind of curse Lopez believed that she was under is unclear at this time, but the troubled woman told investigators that she had been contemplating killing Fryar for over a year.
A police report on the stabbing revealed that the fatal incident occurred at 2 a.m. Monday at Fryar’s home.
“Amanda felt the only way she could be free from her curse was to kill Larry,” investigators wrote in an affidavit.
During her confession, she also repeatedly told officers that “she needed to be free from the demons.” Lopez said that on that night of the murder, she “lost it” and walked up on Fryar, who was seated on the couch. She confessed to attacking him from behind with a steak knife she found on the counter. The victim was stabbed approximately eight times.
When officers arrived at Fryar’s home, he was covered in blood, but still conscious. He identified his attacker as his lover, but when questioned further, he told officers that he couldn’t “speak anymore” as his eyes rolled into the back of his head. He was transported to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead.
Lopez was apprehended by Kissimmee police officers trying to board a bus from Orlando to New York. They were informed of her whereabouts by her mother, who drove her to the bus station. Lopez has been charged with first degree murder.
