Betty Butt, an original member of Atlanta’s Twerk Team was shot and killed in Cobb County Wednesday evening. The dancer’s unfortunate passing was initially revealed by her former Twerk Team cohort, Lady Luscious.
“This doesn’t even feel real they took you away now all I’m left with is words and convos that never happened if you love someone hold them close life is too short for the bullsh-t I love you big sister,” Lady wrote in an Instagram post. “#RIPBeTTyBuTT I’m going to miss you (The Original Twerk Team At Our First Photo shoot).”
The circumstances surrounding Betty’s shooting are still fairly scarce at this time, but it’s believed that she was killed during a double shooting in Smyrna, Georgia. According to Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the shooting occurred at the Mission at Galleria Apartments.
Two victims were injured during the shooting. An unidentified man was hit in the side, while Betty was shot in the head. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. After a brief police chase, which ended in a crash, three suspects were apprehended in connection to the shooting.
Investigators are still not 100% confident about the motive for the shootings, but they are speculating that it was either a botched robbery or a burglary gone wrong. The male victim was treated at the scene and released.
