Huh?! One Chapter Of The Ku Klux Klan Wants Black People To Join
This is pretty odd, even for the Ku Klux Klan. The white supremacist group is looking to recruit non-whites. And by that we mean the KKK wants to get Black and Hispanic members. The anti-semitic group also wants to recruit Jews. Well, at least a KKK chapter in Great Falls, Montana, says it does.
According to John Abarr of Great Falls, he’s reformed his thinking and has launched a new KKK group called the Rocky Mountain Knights. This new KKK group will not discriminate against people because of race, religion or sexual orientation, reports The Great Falls Tribune.
“The KKK is for a strong America,” Abarr said. “White supremacy is the old Klan. This is the new Klan.”
Last year Abarr met with members of the NAACP in Casper, Wyo., and he says inspired him to organize a peace summit with the NAACP and other religious groups in the summer of 2015.
“I thought it was a really good organization,” Abarr told the NAACP. “I don’t feel we need to be separate.”
Many, however, doubt Abarr’s sincerity. Rachel Carroll-Rivas, co-director of the Montana Human Rights Network, questions why the new “inclusive” organization has to be a chapter of the KKK.
“If John Abarr was actually reformed, he could drop the label of the KKK,” she said.
Abarr says his chapter of the KKK will fight against a “new world order” or a one-world government. And members, even those of color or Jewish, would still have to wear the traditional white robes and hoods as well take part in the secret rituals.
Abarr has some believers. Jimmy Simmons, one of the NAACP representatives who met with Abarr last year, thinks Abarr is attempting to reform. And he is considering taking part in Abarr’s peace summit.
Not all in the KKK are happy with Abarr’s move. According to Bradley Jenkins, imperial wizard of the United Klans of America, “That man’s going against everything the bylaws of the constitution of the KKK say. He’s trying to hide behind the KKK to further his political career.”
This isn’t the first time recently that the KKK has tried reaching out to minorities. Over the summer, the Klan tried reaching out to the Black community in a unified effort against immigrants. A leader in the organization said then, “We think our government should step in and do a whole lot more to secure our borders. All our jobs are being outsourced right now, and what jobs are left here, black and white Americans are being forced to have a competition with the Mexicans coming across the border, because they’ll do the job cheaper.”
Our question: What Black person would actually join the KKK?
