While the Queen of the Carter Kingdom, Beyoncé, is prepping to launch her 2015 collection with Topshop, her husband Jay Z has recently acquired Cattier’s Armand de Brignac Champagne from Sovereign Brands.
In a statement, Sovereign Brands said via New York Times: “We are proud to announce that Sovereign Brands, a New York-based wine and spirits company owned by the Berish family, has sold its interest in the Armand de Brignac (‘Ace of Spades’) Champagne brand to a new company led by the globally renowned Shawn ‘Jay Z’ Carter.”
The Global Director Of Brand Communications for Sovereign, Yvonne Lardner also relayed, “We have had a wonderful relationship with Jay Z throughout the years since he first discovered Armand de Brignac. He became interested in owning the brand and made us an offer we simply couldn’t refuse.”
Information about the deal or the name of Jay Z’s company have not been disclosed. Jay Z’s love for Armand de Brignac or “Ace of Spades” (nicknamed after its logo) began when he heard about the alcoholic beverage through a friend. He later featured it in his 2006 music video “Show Me What You Got.” The Ace Of Spades’ bottles are handcrafted at the Cattier’s family ‘s 251 year old French chateau.
