Celebrities Taken Down By Frenemies
Are there any bad apples hiding out in your group? These celebrities found out they were suffering from a serious case of frenemies when their former friends nearly ended their careers.
Shonda Rhimes gave her friend Katherine Heigl fame when she cast her in the hit show Grey’s Anatomy. Katherine Heigl returned the favor by withdrawing her 2008 Emmy nomination for the show and telling the Acadamey that Shonda’s writing wasn’t worthy of it (even though she won an Emmy for Grey’s Anatomy the year before).
Shonda Rhimes responded by moving on to the next hit show. Katherine’s career has struggled ever since.
Tameka Raymond’s “BFF”
Just when Tameka Raymond thought that her high-profile divorce couldn’t get any worse, her friend proved her wrong. Right in the middle of her custody battle with Usher, her “BFF” went on Fox News to call her a bad mother.
Friends or frenemies? We can never really tell with the Real Housewives crowd.
But we do know that Nene Leakes crossed all the way over the line when she called Cynthia Bailey’s husband Peter Thomas a “bish,” and sparked one of the biggest Real Housewives of Atlanta friend-fallouts of the season.
If “don’t criticize your friend’s husband” isn’t at the top of the Girl Code list, it’s definitely near the top.
50 Cent proved that dudes could be frenemies too when he called out former BFF Floyd Mayweather’s lack of reading skills and embarrassed him with a viral meme.
Denise Richards secured her place in frenemy history when she stole he BFF Heather Locklea’s husband Richie Sambora right out from under her. Denis says the friendship and the marriage were technically over before she stepped in. But Heather Locklear wholeheartedly disagrees.
We’re constantly scratching our heads wondering what’s going on with these two. In the most recent episode of Beysus v. Kimye, Beyonce reportedly tried to extend an olive branch to Kim Kardashian.
Not only did Kim shut the overture down, the gesture somehow made it’s way to the tabloids… Aren’t you supposed to be friends before you stab each other in the back?
LaTavia Roberson and LaToya Luckett
LaTavia and LaToya found out that friends and business don’t mix when they were booted by Beyonce and replaced with Michelle.
You can have real friends in Hollywood. But Columbus Short says his former Stomp the Yard co-star Darrin Henson wasn’t one. Recently-fired-from-Scandal Columbus took a lot of heat for the alleged incident of domestic violence that got him fired.
But when his former friend jumped on the band wagon and called Short a “bad guy” on Twitter, Columbus didn’t take it lying down. He responded, “you’ve wanted to be me for seven years. #TakeAKnee and #TakeOfftheMakeUp.” Ouch.
You know you’re really frenemies when you end up in court. Just when we thought the whole Kim Zolciak v. Real Housewives feud was over, Kandi took Kim to court for her cheating her out of royalties for the “Tardy for the Party” song Kim remixed into a club hit.
Andrew Silverman got frenemied so hard it mad his famous. He’s pictured on the left, next to his former BFF Simon Cowell. The woman next to them? Andrew’s wife — who Simon knocked up while the three were still hanging out.
We might temporarily loose track of our marbles too if our biggest frenemy was our mother. Lynne Spears pulled the ultimate backstabbing move when she wrote a scandalous tell-all book about her famous daughter.
Amber Rose thought she was friends with her former assistant — until she stole her naked photos from her computer and sold them to the tabloids.
Back in the 90’s, Winona Ryder and Gwyneth Paltrow were really close. That is until one day when Gwyn spotted the script Shakespeare in Love while hanging out at Winona’s house.
Gwyneth liked the script so much, she stole it and convinced the producers to fire Winona and hire her instead. And if that didn’t burn enough, she won an Oscar for the role.
Apparently black actors don’t have to stick together. When Halle won the Oscar for Monster’s Ball, black actresses snubbed her all over the tabloids by revealing that they passed on the role because they found it too demeaning.
Even Angela Bassett quipped,
“It’s about character, darling. I wasn’t going to be a prostitute on film. I couldn’t do that because it’s such a stereotype about black women and sexuality.
It’s about putting something out there you can be proud of 10 years later. I mean, Meryl Streep won Oscars without all that.”
Jermaine Dupri’s friend Taddrick Mingo was such a scandalous frenemy that he made the news. Apparently, Jermaine gave him a free house, Hummer and access to free studio time for four years.
Then Taddrick crashed Jemaine’s Hummer. After the gifts stopped coming so freely, Taddrick turned around and sued Jermaine saying that he was working as an assistant and was owed back wages.
