Is Anybody Watching “The View”? Former Co-Host Star Jones Isn’t: “Honestly, Not At All”
Ever since “The View” returned with a whole new cast of characters (and Whoopi), there seems to be a lot less chatter about it. Aside from stories here and there about behind-the-scenes squabbles between Whoopi and Rosie O’Donnell, there isn’t as much hype around the show. It’s slowly starting to show in the ratings.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, despite the new additions in Rosie Perez, Republican analyst Nicolle Wallace, and the return of O’Donnell, in key demos, ratings are decreasing for the fourth straight season and at this point, they’re 30 percent down from where they were five years ago. While “The View” used to run circles around CBS show “The Talk,” they’re currently evenly matched in key female demos. All in all, with a new cast and look, “The View” isn’t the big hit folks were hoping it would come back to be.
And it says a lot when former hosts aren’t even trying to support. Star Jones told New York Daily News’ Confidential that she doesn’t have the time or energy to tune in.
“I saw the first day because I wanted to be supportive, but I have a job and I can’t be watching daytime TV.”
So is she watching? “Honestly not at all.”
But she says she has nothing but love for the hosts.
“Whoopi (Goldberg) is one of my best friends. Rosie (O’Donnell) and I love each other to death, of course. But real women don’t sit around and discuss daytime gossip so honestly, they don’t.”
Have you been checking out the new “View”? Why or why not?
