Lay’s Create-A-Flavor Contest Announces Nurse As Winner, Will Earn $1 Million
Lay’s potato chips brand has announced the social media winner of their “Do Us a Flavor” contest and its million-dollar prize. Their winner, Meneko Spigner McBeth is a nurse who created the winning flavor, wasabi ginger. If it sells $100 million by July 2015, McBeth will get an additional one percent cut. McBeth created the flavor after her grandmother’s handmade sushi rolls.
The runners up with the finalist flavors – cappuccino, mango salsa, cheddar bacon mac & cheese — each received $50,000. These remaining flavors will stay in stores until they sell out and wasabi ginger will continued to be sold in stores until July when Lay’s evaluates if it still worth making. Lay’s last create-a-flavor chip, cheesy garlic bread (winner of May 2013) is still selling in grocery stores. Lay’s reports there were over 14 million submissions for their contest.
