“I Am Overwhelmed”: Bus Driver Suspended Indefinitely For Taking Selfie With Kevin Hart Tearfully Thanks Him For Getting Her Job Back
We told you over the weekend about Genesha Bradley-Douglas, the National Car Rental driver who stopped her airport shuttle bus to get off and take a selfie with Kevin Hart. The incident was videotaped by TMZ, and when Douglas’ bosses at National saw it, she was suspended indefinitely without pay and told by her union rep that she might be fired. When asked if she regretted taking the selfie because her job was on the line, Douglas told Inside Edition, “Now I do.”
Word of all this got back to the famous comedian, and he took time out of his day last Thursday to plead to National Car Rental to allow Douglas to get her job back. He posted a video on Instagram that was viewed by his thousands of followers. After the story spread like wildfire, and people started petitioning to help her, Douglas was allowed to get back to work.
A new interview has come out with Inside Edition where Douglas tearfully thanks Hart and everyone else who supported her for helping her stay employed. In the touching video, she speaks on being overwhelmed by all of the love, especially from Hart.
“Tears of joy. I’m overwhelmed by this video. It’s all over my face but I’m just happy that he would do that for me. I’m just really happy that a celebrity would do this for me. Because he didn’t ask me to get off the bus, I got off on my own. I’m just grateful to him, to you guys as well, for allowing me to come here and tell my side. I just want to say thank you [breaks down]. I feel wonderful. And I have faith.”
Kudos to Hart for using his celebrity to do something that didn’t require much of him, but helped someone else out in a major way.
