Singer/songwriter Crystal Nicole recently released a new single, “I Don’t Belong To You,” from her much-anticipated debut album. The Decatur, GA bred native will drop “I Am Crystal Nicole” during the first quarter of 2015.
A five-time ASCAP award winner, Nicole is no newcomer to the music business. She’s an accomplished songwriter, having written songs for Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Monica, Janet Jackson, Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Hudson and Jennifer Lopez.
She won the Grammy for Best Dance Record of the Year for writing Rihanna’s “Only Girl In The World.”
Her family’s advice: “My mother and my husband are two of my biggest inspirations. They don’t give advice based on words, they give advice based on actions, so I learn a lot from them in all aspects of my life just by watching them live. As far as business goes… My husband is ‘Mr. Dedication.’ When he starts something, he finishes it no matter how difficult it becomes. He likes to see things though until the end. So I’m always watching him and learning to complete the task ahead of me one song at a time until the work is done. And my mother is ‘Ms. Sacrifice.’ She will always do what’s best for others and sacrifice her own selfish desires to make sure everyone else is okay. I’m learning daily to think of other people even when it comes to living my dreams, I have to remember I was gifted to do music not just for my own pleasure or security…But for the listeners as well.”
