Not Done With TV: Halle Berry’s 606 Films To Produce Medical Drama For CBS
Oscar-winning film actress Halle Berry seems to be liking television. Not only is she starring in the hit science-fiction television drama series Extant, Berry is now stepping behind the cameras. Her 606 Films has sold its first project under the first-look deal it has with CBS TV Studios, reports Deadline.com. For the project, she is partnering with House executive producer Katie Jacobs for another medical drama with an unusual main character.
Written by Larry Kaplow, the untitled project focuses on a surgeon who actually imprisons himself in high-tech private hospital on the grounds of a prison, reports Black America Web. So it sounds like a lot of drama.
Berry along with Kaplow, her producing partner Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, and Jacobs will executive produce for 606 Films and CBS TV Studios.
606 Films’ has a first-look deal at CBS TV Studios that derived from Berry’s starring role in Extant, which will air its season finale next week. Berry also executive produces the successful series.
Berry has many producing credit thus far to her name, including Frankie & Alice (producer), TV movie Lackawanna Blues (executive producer), and Introducing Dorothy Dandridge (executive producer).
Her company 606 is working on feature film projects as well. Lotus Entertainment thriller Kidnap stars Berry and will be directed by Luis Prieto. Relativity picked up U.S. distribution rights to the film, which will start shooting this fall.
