It always irked me to see the the term “nude” used on pantyhose and underwear when to my eyes the color offered was beige, not “nude,” for non-white women.
Well, now a new lingerie line for women of color will make your reconsider “nude.” Nubian Skin will soon be offering undergarments in an array of hues for women of color.
On the company’s blog, the founder wrote, “My nude isn’t the nude I see in shops. Despite the reality that women of color have the same needs as all women when it comes to lingerie and hosiery (and spend the same of their hard-earned money), the industry simply doesn’t cater to us.
“So, I thought, it’s time to rethink the definition of nude,” she continued.
The line has matched its shades to makeup shades used by women of color. The darkest shade of the lingerie will be Berry, reports The Independent. According to the brand, this hue would work for women who wear foundations such as Mac NW50, Bobbi Brown Espresso 10 and Yves Saint Laurent Le Teint in Beige 90.
The medium-dark shade is called Cinnamon and is described as “a little bit sweet and a little bit spicy.” According to the the brand, this shade would suit women who wear foundations such as Mac NW45, Iman Earth 3-4, Bobbi Brown Warm Walnut, Yves Saint Laurent Le Teint in Beige 80 and Nars Macao.
The lingerie line will be available online early October.
The line will include nude bras, underpants, and hosiery in both plain and lacy styles. Beside a large range of hues, the debut collection offers a broad range of sizes, from 30B to 36E. There are also plans to expand to plus sizes.
Who’s going to buy some new lingerie the second it’s available?
