On “Perfect Strangers,” Henrietta Winslow worked as an elevator operator at the Chicago Chronicle but after two seasons, she said goodbye to Larry Appleton and his cousin Balki Bartokomous in favor of her own show. “Family Matters” followed the Winslow family with Chicago police officer Carl as the patriarch. But pesky neighbor Steve Urkel stole the show and became a breakout star. Soon “Family Matters” revolved around the highwater pants and suspenders-wearing geek. The show lasted for 11 seasons.
