A couple of years ago, singer CeeLo Green found himself at the center of a criminal investigation after a former flame accused him of date rape. The unnamed woman (not pictured above) told investigators that Green took her to a restaurant downtown Los Angeles and that after having a drink, she blacked out. She went on to say that she woke up hours later unclothed in a hotel room bed and that Green was in the room with her. Although there was talk of an audio clip floating around, in which Green could be heard apologizing to the alleged victim for slipping ecstasy in her drink, he has vehemently denied the allegations.
“Just to be plain and clear, I’m not guilty of no rape. I would not and could not disrespect a woman in that fashion. I don’t gotta rape nobody,” he told The Breakfast Club last fall.
While the date rape charges were eventually dropped, the singer was still on the hook for felony charges for furnishing ecstasy. Well, until now that is. According to TMZ, he recently reached a plea deal, in which he pled no contest to the charges. If reports are correct, then the deal allows Green to maintain his innocence as far as claims that he slipped the woman ecstasy go. However, via the plea, he is admitting to “voluntary sharing.”
The plea allows for him to avoid jail time, but he is required to answer to a probation officer for the next three years. He will also be required to complete 360 hours of community service at the MusiCares Foundation of the Recording Academy and attend 52 NA meetings with a private therapist.
