Halle Berry wants you tap into your wild side. The actress has a new scent called Wild Essence Halle Berry, and Berry shows her wild side in the new advertisement, dressed in a sheer, black mesh dress against a jungle backdrop. The fragrance “captures the sensual essence of a women in nature.”
Berry herself says in a press statement, “With my newest fragrance I wanted to go deep into the rainforest where I could capture the primal richness of nature in an effortless scent.” The latest perfume features Sicilian bergamot, “juicy black currant and mandarin zest” with lighter hints of sandalwood bark and white patchouli and is priced around $28.00, reports Sandra Rose. “I love the idea of creating a fragrance that will allow women to connect with nature, through perfume,” added Berry in that press statement. Berry already has four other scents on the market: Exotic Jasmine, Closer, Halle, and Pure Orchid. All are through her brand Halle Berry Fragrances under a deal with Coty.
When her first fragrance Halle was launched in March 2009 it debuted as the best-selling fragrance at such stores as Target, CVS, Walgreen and Kohl’s, reports Forbes.
One of the reasons for its successful debut was its price point. The scent was teamed with other Berry products such as shower gel, body lotion and natural deodorant spray and retailed for just $17 to $35.
Still, Berry fragrances have not remained in the top 10 best-selling celebrity fragrances. “While the late actress Elizabeth Taylor remains number one with sales of US$55 million in 2013, the number two and three positions are held by singer/actress/producer Jennifer Lopez and singer Justin Bieber. Singers Beyoncé Knowles and Rihanna hold the number four and five positions,” reports Euro Monitor.
Overall celebrity scent sales are down. In 2013 celebrity fragrances equaled about 11 percent of the US fragrances market, a decrease from 12 percent in 2012.
