Add ‘Philanthropist’ To Their Resumes: 10 Celebrities Who Give Back

Tom Joyner

If there is anyone who has done lots to help HBCUs survive, it Tom Joyner, dubbed the “hardest working man in radio.” Since 1998, the Tom Joyner Foundation has raised more than $55 million to provide financial assistance to students attending HBCUs, reports Urban Intellectuals.

And every year his star-studded, performance laden Tom Joyner Foundation Fantastic Voyage raises a ton on money for the cause.

Joyner is not above helping folks out individually. As you may recall he offered a full college scholarship to slain teen Trayvon Martin’s friend Rachel Jeantel after she promised to go back to school and receive her high school diploma, which she recently did.
