Many of today’s major artists once started out either writing songs for other singers or singing backup for established entertainers and we always wonder what made them take the plunge from being in the background to stepping into the forefront. For Luke James the decision was simple. The New Orleans native told us plain and simple: “I wasn’t designed to be behind the scenes.” And that explains why he didn’t stay a backup singer for Tyrese for long.
As Luke prepares to drop his solo debut, we got a chance to chat with the soulful singer about his musical coming out, what it’s like performing on stage by himself these days (because to us it looks like ol’ boy is up there catching the Holy Ghost), and, of course, what’s up with his love life.
