You would think that dating a celebrity would be fun, but in reality, it can be extremely stressful–especially when you’re dating Chris Brown of all people. Just ask Karrueche Tran. Not only does he have legal trouble that weighs heavily on his relationship with Tran, but his ex-girlfriend and friends (and fans) have made their disdain for her very clear over the last two years or so on social media. And did I mention that Brown and Tran break up like every two weeks?
Tran decided to sit down with Keke Palmer on her new show “#JustKeke” to give some insight into what it’s really like for her, as she receives a lot of shade from people who just see her as an opportunist. The full interview airs on Wednesday, and on the show, she will discuss how she met Brown, their relationship ups and downs and more. Until then, here’s what was said about Tran dealing with public scrutiny and Rihanna:
Palmer: Now I remember when you and I had a conversation right before everything started getting really crazy with Chris Brown. And I said to you, how is it? Is everything okay? And you were like, “Well it’s not me. It’s just my boyfriend’s a celebrity.” I actually felt really bad in that time because you have a girl, who’s just a girl from California, who ends up falling in love with one of the big pop stars of our time. And you’re hit with all of this drama. I mean what was that like? Were you a bit down about it? Were your friends there for you? How did you find a way to really move forward through all of this and keep going?
Tran: Keeping a level head and positivity. I never dated a celebrity before so it was very new to me. Paparazzi and all that. And then, even the situation with Rihanna, you know the reason why people tuned into this so much was because it’s relatable. I have girlfriends, I have family who’s gone through the same situation–it’s the case of the ex. However, my boyfriend is a celebrity, whose ex-girlfriend is an even bigger celebrity. So not only am I fighting a battle with her, I’m fighting a battle with her 14 million fans or however else. So imagine how that feels for me when I have to get on Twitter.
Palmer: And people are trying to make you constantly prove yourself. I see that a lot. I’m like looking and your comments…
Tran: They make up all kinds of crazy stuff and they know nothing about me, and I stay so mute sometimes, that leaves open space for them to say whatever they want.
Palmer: What would you say the hardest part of it all was for you?
Tran: I guess I would say, the heartbreak. It was a real situation [Tears up].
Palmer: What was the heartbreak, mami? It’s okay, we can take a second…We all feel you, we all feel you.
Tran: Yeah, it was a real life situation.
While Tran is used to shade from some Rihanna fans (the Navy), Palmer is not. She received quite an earful from upset Rihanna fans who scolded her for talking to Tran on the show. Palmer decided to respond on Instagram today:
As always, fans go way too hard sometimes.
And as for Rihanna…well, just a couple hours ago, she posted this Vine interview to Twitter with a sad face. Please excuse the language.
*Sigh* Well, check out a clip from the interview that has people talking below, and share your thoughts.
