‘It’s Going On MY Album:’ Michelle Williams Makes It Clear That ‘Say Yes’ Isn’t A Destiny’s Child Song
Destiny’s Child fans were ecstatic to learn that the trio would be somewhat reuniting for Michelle Williams’ new single “Say Yes.” And somehow, in all of the excitement, some people interpreted the track as a sign that a new Destiny’s Child album is in the works. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case. But we’re content for now seeing the ladies coming together to promote one another’s solo careers.
“There was an interview we did some years ago saying that we would participate, in whatever capacity, on each other’s solo projects,” Michelle explained to MTV News. “Whether that is appearing with Beyoncé from time to time on her tours, or on shows, or Kelly’s album, so this was my turn now to have them on an original song on my album.”
Michelle adds that it was awesome being able to reunite with her former group members.
“Filming the video for ‘Say Yes’ was fun. It was amazing. It was incredible.”
Not to be confused, though, Michelle made it clear that “Say Yes” is her project and simply features her DC-3 sisters.
“It feels wonderful [to work with them], and no matter how much we try to say it’s not a Destiny’s Child song because it’s not going on a Destiny’s Child album. It’s going on MY album featuring Beyoncé and Kelly. It’s the same way Kelly featured us on her album. But no matter how much we try to separate ourselves when we’re together, it is what it is. This is the group!'” she said laughing.
While we would loveeeeee another Destiny’s Child album, we’ll take what we can get for now
