Stalker Who Broke Into Sanaa Lathan’s Home And Fell Asleep Ordered To Undergo Psychiatric Counseling
We told you earlier this month about the very scary situation that actress Sanaa Lathan found herself in, where an obsessed stalker broke into her home. The stalker, Shawn Caples, was initially found by contractors working on Lathan’s home. He was actually caught sleeping in her laundry room, and when he was awoken by the contractors, he claimed to be Lathan’s husband. He was ordered to leave, but would return later when Lathan was present. She told him to leave (“get the f**k out of here”), but he wouldn’t. She called the police and he left, but Caples reportedly showed up AGAIN days later, forcing her to hide in her home to call police.
He was inevitably arrested for stalking and was ordered to stay 100 yards away from her. But according to TMZ, after appearing in court today, he actually pled guilty to charges of criminal trespassing instead, and was ordered to stay away from Lathan for three years. Caples was also given three years of probation and was ordered to undergo psychiatric counseling for a year.
Considering that this man isn’t facing actual jail time and appeared at her home a whopping three times, I hope that Lathan has surrounded herself with the proper security, because what she has already dealt with when it comes to Mr. Capers is terrifying. It’s a blessing that she wasn’t harmed in any of these encounters.
