Man Who Beat Adrian Peterson’s Son To Death Kidnaps And Attacks The Child’s Mother While Out On Bail

According to TMZ, Joseph Robert Patterson, the man who is accused of beating NFL star Adrian Peterson’s son to death last year, has recently been arrested again for attacking and kidnapping the late child’s mother. He was out on a $750,000 bond for his alleged crimes against Peterson’s son when he went after the mother this month.

If you’ll recall, Patterson is accused of extensively beating 2-year-old Tyrese Robert Ruffin when he was supposed to be caring for and watching the boy while Ruffin’s mother was out back in October of last year. Ruffin sustained major head injuries and passed away after two days in intensive care. Minnesota Vikings star Adrian Peterson had reportedly learned that he had a 2-year-old son two months prior to the child’s death, and claimed that he had plans to visit Ruffin. He had been in touch with the child’s mother and was financially helping her, but didn’t have a close relationship with the boy as of yet.

After the death of Ruffin, Patterson was charged with second-degree murder, two counts of first degree manslaughter, a charge of felony child abuse, as well as a charge of aggravated battery of an infant. Despite such serious charges, and oh yeah, the fact that he had two previous domestic violence violations on his record from a previous relationship, bail was not denied for him. After posting what was necessary for the $750K bond, and being told that he could not contact the child’s mother or anyone in her family, he reportedly decided to do what he wanted to, and kidnapped the mother in South Dakota earlier this week.

According to TMZ, police were called on Tuesday morning and Patterson was apprehended and taken into custody. He was charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault, third-degree burglary and interfering with emergency communications. It is unclear what the deal is with the late child’s mother, but based on Patterson’s new charges, it seems that she is still alive. We will keep you posted on her status, and what becomes of Patterson, who is due in court later today.
