23-Year-Old Mom Shoves Her Baby Out Of A Moving Car To Get Father’s Attention
23-year-old Lasasha Allen will be spending quite a bit of time behind bars if the courts find the recent allegations being made against her to be true. According to My Arkansas, the young mother shoved her 20-month-old baby out of a moving car.
The incident occurred on Sunday, June 22 after Lasasha allegedly placed the child in the passenger seat of her vehicle and drove to a rural location with an extremely curved roadway. Investigators say the troubled mother sped up to 45 miles an hour, reached over, opened the door and intentionally caused the child to fall out. Sadly, it is believed that this was all a misguided attempt to get the attention of the child’s father. Franklin Parish Sheriff Deputy Kevin Cobb says that Lasasha made contact with the child’s father one day prior to the incident and told him that the child had been injuring after falling from a car window, with the intent of getting a reaction from him.
“The next day when she got no response, she made the determination to make this come true,” said Kevin Cobb.
Though she initially tried to tell emergency room doctors that the child’s injuries were the result of an accident, the Franklin Medical Center staff quickly called police and told them that the 20-month-old was suffering from injuries that were severe in nature. Lasasha was eventually taken to the station where she was interviewed.
“It was finally determined that this was more than an accident. This was an intentional act,” said Kevin.
“She was having stories that just weren’t adding up and did not make sense. She arranged it, basically staging this event to where it would look like an accident.”
Lasasha later confessed that she allowed her baby to fall out of the car to inflict minor damage so that she wouldn’t look like a liar to the child’s father. The baby was airlifted to a Shreveport medical facility and is reported to be in stable condition pending surgery. Lasasha’s other five children are in the custody of Child Services.
“One thing is certain,” Kevin said. “The child is in a safer place today than in the hands of the mother. Justice can’t move quickly enough in this.”
“My hope is once this is admitted to the district attorney, that justice moves quickly,” he added. “This was a horrendous act, one that is beyond explanation. I hope that everyone will pray for that child and its siblings through this ordeal.”
Lasasha is currently in police custody and has been charged with attempted second degree murder. Bond has been set at $750,000.
