‘You Are Not Team Jesus!’ Gabrielle Union Responds To Internet Trolls

June 24, 2014  |

The Internet can be a very mean place, especially when you’re a celebrity. Just take Gabrielle Union for example. The “Think Like A Man Too” actress has been the target of countless Internet trolls over the years, but she appears to be taking it all in stride.

“I think a bad by-product of negative posts are how commenters—if you read your comment section of your Instagram. People are very comfortable saying cruel things. I mean unnecessarily cruel things,” she recently told BET. “And then you click on their posts and it’s like, “team Jesus.’ And you’re like, ‘You’re not team Jesus! You are NOT team Jesus!'”

Gabby’s “Think Like A Man Too” co-star LaLa Vasquez, on the other hand, says she decides to look on the bright side when she receives negative attention.

“I come from the mindset where it’s like, worry when people aren’t talking about you. Like no matter what you do, people are always going to have something to say. I’m just like, ‘If you really get to know me, you would like me! I’m cool! Why are you saying these things?'”

She did however, admit that constantly reading negative comments could take a toll on a person after a while.

“Put it like this, if you want to have a bad day, read all of your comments.”

Regina Hall also chimed in, revealing that the constant negativity is one of the reasons she avoids social media.

“I’m not on social media. I hear about blogs, but that’s one of the reasons that I’m not. And it’s a small percentage I would say because most of the stuff is positive. But it’s like, it’s so little information that they’re even commenting on. I just feel like, why say it?”

“People always feel the need to express their opinions and it’s so interesting to me how people feel like they have a right to say unkind things. I don’t read them a lot.”
