In case you weren’t certain, yes, Lupita Nyong’o runs the world and everything in it. Get it? Got it? Good.
After covering quite a few major publications during awards season before winning her Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for 12 Years of Slave, Nyong’o finally has been given the chance to cover the fashion bible that is Vogue.
In the July issue, Nyong’o speaks on fashion, her surreal rise to the top of the A-list, working on the new Star Wars movie, her contract with Lancome, and much, much more. There is also a part where her relationship status is acknowledged (yes, her boyfriend is rapper K’naan), and she speaks for the first time on her plans to adapt Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s book, Americanah, into a film (with the help of Brad Pitt’s production company, Plan B):
“The book blew me away,” she tells me. “This was a project I wanted to work on, and I pursued it with all my being. It’s an unabashedly romantic book, really inspiring and uplifting. I found myself in her pages.”
But on top of all the gems Nyong’o drops in the interview, it’s the striking images of the actress in Rodarte, Givenchy, Prada, J. Crew and more that stand out most. Check out the vivid photos from her spread on the next few pages, and read her full interview with Vogue‘s Hamish Bowles, here.
