“That’s My Baby Til The Day I Die”: Andrea Kelly Speaks On Youngest Child Coming Out As Transgender Male

- By

We told you earlier in the week that R. Kelly and Andrea Kelly’s youngest daughter, Jaya, now identifies as Jay, and as a transgender male. The teenager said on Ask. Fm that while his father has “not reached out,” his mother, Hollywood Exes star Andrea Kelly, has been very supportive of him.

My mom was like,”Baby, you know I love you if you were bi, gay, lesbian, you name it and I would still love you so much..She was very proud of me, I was like, “Thank you mom for accepting the fact that I’m a transgender.”

We, as well as many others, applaud Kelly for being there for her child no matter what. A few people sent well wishes and messages of support to her on Twitter, telling her to be strong and supportive for Jay. Kelly let them know that as a mother, she wouldn’t mistreat or abandon her children, no matter what:

“that’s my baby til the day I die. NOTHING AND NO THING will ever change MY LOVE…A MOTHER’S LOVE!”

“thank you. MY LOVE,A MOTHER’S LOVE, is UNCONDITIONAL… LIKE GOD’S LOVE FOR ALL OF US!”

In the past, Kelly has spoken about withstanding a lot of things, including the struggles in her marriage to R. Kelly. But she said that despite public pain and embarrassment, she tried to stay positive so that she could teach her children to always be strong, no matter what they go through, or no matter what people in the world might say.

“It was a way for me to be a living example to my children. I had to square my shoulders and hold my head high and show them in life, you cannot crawl under a rock and die. You have to keep going, move forward and stay strong. That’s what I want my children to remember, and it’s far more important than anything any tabloid can write.”

Kudos to Kelly and Jay for standing so strong and being a great example of unconditional love and acceptance.
