In an exclusive interview with Sister 2 Sister, a source close to Keyshia Cole’s mother and sister, Frankie Lons and Neffie (aka, Neffeteria) Pugh, says that Cole is making it difficult for the two, and her estranged siblings, to get their new reality show, Family Therapy, on television.
The show, which the source says will actually be called Frankie’s Family Therapy, had a teaser trailer that unexpectedly dropped last week. We shared this trailer with you. It showed that the program will follow Frankie, Neffie, sister Elite and Latifia, and brothers Sam and Rob, as they all reunite, live under the same roof, and go through both group counseling, and therapy by themselves. Doesn’t sound like a bad idea, but the images in the trailer included Frankie behaving quite over-the-top, one of the sisters kicking at a glass door during an argument (and the cops coming to break things up), and some very emotional moments. The public reaction to the trailer wasn’t good, and that’s probably because not only did it come off as too much for TV, but Cole’s name was also brought up, though she’s not attached to the show at all.
But the source that chatted with Sister 2 Sister claims that the family wasn’t expecting the trailer to come out so soon, and they didn’t OK having Cole’s name in it. The source wouldn’t specify to Sister 2 Sister how Cole is holding back the show being picked up by networks, aside from saying she’s vehemently opposed to the program, but they say that Family Therapy really doesn’t have anything to do with her, so she should let them continue on with it. The source also confirmed what Cole said months ago about interactions with her family, saying that she is no longer in contact with her mother, and has completely fallen out with her sister Neffe.
All in all, the source says that the family just wants to go through with the show, and they should be able to. “Keyshia brought them into this line of work. To now try to cut them entirely out…It’s not fair.”
